Featured Author Jeremy Kroeker One of Jeremy's fondest memories while growing up in Saskatchewan was chasing gophers on his little dirt bike. As a young adult, he took a job as a long haul truck driver so that he could save money for a year of travel in Europe. While there, he attended a mountaineering school in Austria and volunteered at a Croatian refugee center shortly before the Balkan War ended. After returning to Canada Jeremy landed a job at a wilderness camp in Nordegg, Alberta, where he fell in love with ice climbing - a sport that has been described as "hours of suffering interspersed with moments of terror." To earn money so that he could climb all winter without having to work, Jeremy laboured during the summer months as a member of a wildfire prevention rappel crew in northern Alberta. Some time later, as a knee-jerk response to a failed relationship, he purchased a used motorcycle and rode from the Canadian Rockies to the jungles of Panama while nursing a broken heart. This journey was later documented in his first book: Motorcycle Therapy - A Canadian Adventure in Central America. Jeremy has recently returned from another lengthy motorcycle trip, this one to the Middle East and North Africa, the story of which will appear in his upcoming second book. His writing has also been featured in several publications, including the Winnipeg Free Press and Motorcycle Mojo Magazine. Jeremy contributed an excerpt from Motorcycle Therapy to a previous Summit Studios anthology, I Sold My Gold Tooth for Gas Money. However, his most recent story can be found in the pages of I Learned Kung Fu from a Bear Cub, where his efforts to impress a young woman while hiking in the Austrian Alps goes terribly wrong.
